PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos (Auletes), restored, 55-51 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 25 mm, 8.38 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Imitating Alexandria, after RY 29 = 53/2. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩ[Σ] ΠTOΛEMAIOY / L KΘ - ΠA Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt, palm frond over shoulder; to lower left, headdress of Isis. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 396 and Svoronos 1839 (for prototype). Small breaks in plating on the edge, otherwise, very fine.
